RE: Planning a trip to Amish Country next year help

I would also recommend Old Mill Stream campground for your family. Dutch Wonderland is a nice little park for your kid's age. Strasburg railroad is a good day trip too. Fall is the best time to go, there will be harvest festivals, hayrides and corn mazes for the kids. Make sure to stop at the visitor's center and pick up discount coupons and maps for Lancaster attractions. FYI-Do not ask the Amish to pose for pictures as they are very quiet, private people.

RE: Camp gronds near East Stroudsburg

Here's another vote for Mountain Vista. I think there is a KOA near Shawnee mountain too, if you just need a place to park.

RE: Trap Pond State Park Delaware / this week/weekend

Did you try putting some wet food out on a paper plate in a couple of places? Don't give up, someone on this forum found their cat at a campground by leaving food out and taking turns sitting quietly in the spot he was last seen. Good luck , I'll pray for his safe return...

RE: Camping cat - where to ride?

Our 4 cats travel in the 5th wheel in small wire dog kennels. They collapse down for storage when not in use, and I feel it keeps the cats much safer during travel. I don't have to worry about anything falling out of the cabinets on them if we had to stop short.

RE: Using HELOC to pay down 1st Mortgage.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I see a flaw in Step #6. You will still be due to make a mortgage payment for February, regardless if you paid extra on the principal in January. Clue me in if I'm wrong...

RE: Mortgage interest cutting programs

In response to the above poster, because these people are talking about their existing mortgages not taking out a new loan.....

RE: Mortgage interest cutting programs

Interest on a fixed rate mortgage is "front end loaded". You can see this on your amortization schedule. Any time you can pay a little extra towards the principal is going to save you interest in the long run...

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Charlie was not only loved by you, but he obviously loved you back. You will always carry those memories of how happy and content he was in your heart...so that is his gift to you.

RE: thousand trails

Tim, As a former East Coast TT member, I can help you. We sold our TT membership after 3 years (at a loss)because there were not enough TT parks open year round in our area (southern NJ). We purchased an Outdoor World used membership for about $1,000 on ebay a few years ago. We love O.W. and have been to all of the parks in Pa, NJ, Va and Mass. Outdoor World would work much better for you, their Cape Cod and Sturbridge, Mass parks are beautiful as well as Moody Beach, Maine. The resale broker I used on ebay was "kamp19" Private message me with any other questions...

RE: Pennsylvania Renaissance Fair - questions

We attend every year, and even wear our costumes. It's mostly outside but there are a few plays that are done inside. It is a recreated English village, so wear comfortable walking shoes as the shire is a little hilly. Don't miss the "Mud show." Wait until the end of the day to attend the joust, you'll be ready to sit down. I recommend the soup in a bread bowl for lunch. The wines are very good at Mount Hope also, they have shop at the entrance/exit.

RE: Camping World RV 400 at Dover

We just got back from camping for a week at the Dover track! Great weather and great friends & family. We got to watch Friday's Sunoco 150 featuring Childress's grandson driving the black #3. At Sunday's Cup race most of the fans were really happy with the bumping and banging by the Rouschers, with neither driver having to wreck anyone. Kyle Busch got the most boos by the crowd during introductions, lol. Hubby was ecstatic because we had the pleasure of meeting and greeting Richard Petty on Saturday at the dedication of his placque at the Monster Mile.

RE: NASCAR - Wall Speedway will RE OPEN

That's great news! We went to the 2006 Turkey Derby and got to meet and greet with Kenny Shraeder. The weather was beautiful that year.

RE: Soft paws - do you use them?

My orange male tabby was declawed when he was nuetered and he still scratchs our ottoman 2 or 3 times a day!! I think he relieves stress from having another male cat in the house. He can't hurt anything so we don't even yell at him. I just think they all have different scratching needs....

RE: Gettysburg PA

I also recommend the evening Gettysburg ghost walk, the Cyclorama, and the Boyd's Bear country store. There are more things to do in the surrounding area too. You can check out the York County fairgrounds for events and take the snack food tours in nearby Hanover. Morningstar flea market on Rte. 30 is every Sat & Sunday.

RE: sneezing cat

Hi Bon-bon, Does he hid under your beds or behind furniture? Then may it's just dust. Ours like to play in the basement and they are always coming up with dust balls on their whiskers! I also use the Hartz hairball gel stuff, you can get at Petsmart. Just smear it on their lips if he won't lick it off your finger. Let us know what the vet says....

RE: new cat, need help/advice PICTURES are here...

Our orange tabby was 10 months old when we adopted him from the pound, and was past the cute kitten stage. He had been found wandering the streets with his "sister". She was adopted by the time we got there, so he was lonely. He was sad the first few days we brought him home, but then bonded to our other grown female. It has been 5 years since then, and the two of them are best buddies. Give it a few days, and I'm sure as he gets stronger it will get better. I'm glad he's purring for you.

RE: Convenience Food

We buy 2 or 3 of the rotissarie chickens at Sam's Club and eat one right away. I use my Food Saver to "space bag" the other 2 and freeze them, bones and all. You have to let them cool down to room temperature first. They are perfect to take on a camping trip.

RE: Gettysburg help please

Morningstar flea market on Rte 30 is open Saturdays and Sundays. I think you can google it for directions. I highly recommend a Gettysburg evening "Ghost Walk". It is under $10 a person and well worth it. We just returned from 8 days in Gettysburg last week, and visited the Utz snack outlet in Hanover, the Gettysburg outlets and antique shopping in nearby New Oxford. If you are there on Sept 13th the town of East Berlin historical society has a free event called "Colonial Days". The State Fair is running for a week in Sept at the York County fairgrounds. Lots to do in that area!! Private message me with any other questions...

RE: Haven’t been having good luck with Craigslist

We only recently started to buy/sell on craigslist. We had good luck selling our canoe to a nice neighbor. The second item we attempted to sell was a gently used large parrot cage. I was contacted by a scammer, who wanted to send his "representative" with a cashier's check for the cage. Hubby responded that it was cash only (we were only asking $300). Amazingly they never got back to us, Lol...
